Lets talk about Love Note

So what adjustments did I make?

I have a 42″/107cm upper and 49″/125cm full bust, so I went with a size L, which would give me 0-0.5″/1.27cm ease at the full bust. But I also needed to make adjustments to the sleeves to fit my 17″/43cm upper arm, and I know from previous measurements that my armscye is 9″/22.8cm so I knew I’d need at least an extra couple of inches there. (I usually knit to a 10″/25.4cm to give me a comfortable fit)

So with all that in mind I new I needed to increase the sleeves by an extra 12 stitches and the armscye/yoke depth by approx. 1.5″

Once I had finished the lace chart and was setting into the raglan increases, I spaced out the body increases, because I only needed to work the 6 sets of those stated in the pattern, every other round and did 12 rounds of increases on the sleeves. Which ended up giving me an extra sleeve stitch and an extra 0.5″/1.27cm length on the yoke.

I’ve spent a long while now (in fact since Unwind in march 2020) watching everyone make a Love Note by Tin Can Knits and waiting until I found the right colour.

Then Mamawooling started dying yarn, and when she came out with the ‘Vamp’ colourway I knew it was it! I’d found the right colour for me.

Love Note is a wonderfully adaptive pattern which is fantastic as I already knew I’d have to make adjustments for the armscye/yoke depth and sleeve fit.

I knew I didn’t want a lot of positive ease in the garment for several reasons, I’ve got a 7″ difference in my upper & full bust so I didn’t want it to swamp me in the shoulders, I’d be mostly wearing it over dresses or long tee shirts with jeans so wanted it to help accentuate my waist shape, also I wanted to be economical with yarn (plus size knitting isn’t cheap).

Oh and it’s a super quick knit too, I couldn’t put it down once I cast on, it took me 6 days from cast on to cast off.
